Burrowcore: The Cosy Home Style Taking Over This Autumn
Burrowcore is the lived-in, cosy home trend that is replacing cottagecore this autumn.

You have probably heard of cottagecore. Burrowcore is its more lived-in older sibling, and searches for it have rocketed this autumn. The style was only named in early 2026, but the idea behind it has been around for far longer: a home you simply do not want to leave.
What is burrowcore?
Burrowcore is about character and soul over perfection. Interior experts describe it as a home that feels safe, personal and wrapped up like a soft blanket after a long day. It is not a strict look, more a principle you can adapt to any space.
The key ingredients
- Warm, earthy colours such as terracotta, moss green and deep brown.
- Soft textures: throws, chunky knits, sheepskin and velvet.
- Low, layered lighting from lamps and candles.
- Books, plants and handmade pieces on display.
- Furniture that is comfortable first and stylish second.
How to start
Begin with the corner you use most. Add a deep armchair, a lamp and a throw, then bring in items with a story, such as a framed print, a vintage rug or a favourite mug on an open shelf.
Embrace the lived-in look
Burrowcore welcomes a little mess. A stack of books, a blanket over the sofa arm and a bowl of fruit all add warmth. The goal is a room that looks used and loved, not staged.
A trend with staying power
Although searches have spiked, the principles behind it, comfort, personality and warmth, are not going away. If you build your home around what makes you feel cosy, it will never go out of style.
This autumn, pick one room and make it your burrow.
